Gait and treadmill therapy
If you want to learn to walk, you have to walk!
As a treadmill specialist, our cooperation partner h/p/cosmos has stood for convincing technology, design and safety in the construction of treadmills in the fields of rehabilitation, competitive sports, sports science, medicine, therapy, performance diagnostics and movement analysis since 1988. The functions, precision and safety of the systems convince athletes and trainers, patients and doctors alike worldwide.
h/p/cosmos sets standards in the construction of treadmill ergometers in the areas of innovation, technology, safety and support and offers solutions for a wide range of applications and performance categories. In the physiotherapeutic and medical field, there are system solutions for locomotion therapy (locomotion) including weight relief system (airwalk ap) and active gait correction using an expander pulley system (robowalk).
The modular design allows the necessary components for the "tool treadmill" to be assembled or retrofitted.
Patients undergoing physiotherapy often have limited mobility, which means that even stepping onto a treadmill can be a challenge. The kardiomed pluto rehabilitation system features a treadmill with a low step-up height and optional long handrails that run the entire length of the running surface, providing additional safety and stability. This design makes it particularly safe and comfortable to use for patients with limited walking ability. A professional wheelchair ramp is available as an option, ensuring comfortable access to the running surface for most types of wheelchairs.
Therapy should start as early as possible and be comfortable for both the patient and the therapist. Treadmill training often requires additional support, which can be provided by the active-assist robowalk expander system. The patented system consists of infinitely adjustable rubber cables with scales for reproducible settings.
The robowalk expander rehabilitation system can be used in various ways for patients with different orthopaedic and neurological pathologies. The innovative system offers the therapist the possibility of applying guiding resistance and/or supporting or correcting the walking movement without having to use their own hands. The expander cables are attached to the leg using cuffs and can be adjusted in height, direction and strength. This enables highly efficient, sensorimotor training with direct transfer and a high number of repetitions.
The treadmill systems can be optionally configured with systems for gait analysis and plantar pressure distribution, such as zebris pressure measurement plates.
New: Perturbation training on the treadmill - preventing falls and increasing gait stability
h/p/cosmos now offers the "Perturbation" module for the latest generation of treadmills, which simulates fall scenarios (stumbling and slipping) through unexpected and destabilizing changes in treadmill speed. Patients can train in a controlled and safe environment to increase their gait stability and reduce their tendency to fall. The intensity, frequency and duration of the perturbations can be set individually or varied within set limits using a random generator. In addition, the perturbation module enables "dual tasking", in which cognitive tests distract patients from physical activity while using the treadmill. For safety reasons, a fall protection system (safety bar or airwalk ap weight relief system with emergency stop) is mandatory.
