Areas of application
Isokinetic testing and training systems offer ideal testing and training options in rehabilitation and performance diagnostics from the early phase of post-treatment through to the "return to work/competition phase". The main feature is the isokinetic mode of operation, which cannot be compared with any other system in this form in terms of torque in combination with angular velocity.
Isokinetic training
When training on isokinetic equipment, the resistance is automatically adjusted to the force applied while maintaining a defined, constant angular velocity. This allows all major joints of the human body to be tested and trained.
In contrast to conventional equipment, where the resistance is fixed, isokinetic training is based on setting the angular velocity: if the person exercising tries to exceed this predetermined speed, the resistance adjusts variably at any point within the range of motion. This not only enables precise and safe load control, but also a significantly earlier start to training in the early post-operative phase than with conventional training devices.
The training effect is higher with isokinetic training than with classic strength training exercises. This was confirmed by a study in 2011 (Golik-Peric et. al. 2011). Training groups of both methods were compared for four weeks. In the end, the increase in strength in the isokinetic training group was 27%, but only 13% in the classic strength training group.
This form of training virtually eliminates overloading and injuries, as the resistance can be individually adjusted for each exercise. This means it can be continuously adapted to the patient's individual fitness level. There is also no risk of excessive training weights, which would have a negative impact on the joints. Thanks to these advantages, isokinetic training is ideal for people with joint damage.
We offer a wide range of training options for the safe use of isokinetics. Both the interests of individuals and the overall needs of a facility can be taken into account. Our offer includes flexible formats: from individual in-house training courses directly on site to centrally organized training courses at our locations. In addition, we regularly organize user meetings on various topics, where knowledge can be deepened and experiences exchanged. To enable us to create a suitable training offer, it is helpful to let us know your specific requirements.
